QWERTY name used mainly the first six latter of the top left keyboard. The design of the QWERTY keyboard is made from  Sholes and Glidden typewriter, in 1873 then it become popular.

Christopher Latham Sholes a newspaper editor was the first to create the layout of QWERTY keypad in 1870 month of October is the inventor of the qwerty keyboard. The layout was based on the typewriter keypad.
